Bruise Care Plan: Bruise Injury First Aid
- Apply icepack to injuried area immediately to reduce swelling and diminish black-and-blue discoloration.
- Apply and alternate hot and cold packs for the first 48 hours for 20 minites per application.
- Elevate injuried limb or burise injury extremity for the first 24 hours if possible.
- If necessary, take over-the-counter medication to control pain.
- Apply Bruise Rx to injured area.
- Some forms of non-injury bruising may be associated with vitamin, health conditons or other deficiencies.
- Contact a physician if: bruising occurs without injury, infection is present, or if pressure or swelling persist.
- If taking prescription medication that effect blood clotting, or other blood functions see a physician.
- Re-apply Bruise Rx to reduce bruise discoloration and improve healing as necessary.
- Keep bruise injury area elevated higher than your reat in a resting position if possible.
