- Poison ivy, oak, or sumac rashes usually begins erupting within 48 hours following contact.
- If you are exposed, wash areas immediately with cool water and soap for 10-25 minutes.

- If necessary, take over-the-counter medication to control rash swelling or itching.
- Apply wet compresses or soak in cool water to relieve symptoms.

- For dry and flaky skin use high quality moisturizers to rehydrate skin.

* Use process of elimination. Consider new substances that have been introduced within your environment within the last 7-10 days prior to the rash. Consider changes to your lifestyle that are out-of-the-ordinary (i.e. hiking, travel, new foods). Attempt to rule out potential substances based on new products introduced within your living envirnoment or changes to your normal life-style.
